Not afraid of complex cases or a stranger to complicated litigation, Dan rolls up his sleeves to discover details that others overlook or take for granted. He is adept at exploring the different angles of a lawsuit to determine the most strategic approach, and for years has kept a pair of boots in the trunk of his car, just in case he needs to trudge through the mud to complete his investigation, wherever that may take him. Motivated to deliver the best possible outcome for his clients, Dan prides himself on his written and courtroom advocacy skills.
Over the course of his legal career, Dan has excelled in a number of practice areas, including bankruptcy, estate planning, and above all, litigation. He has handled cases from intake to appeal, drawing from his diverse experience and perspectives. At Zausmer, August & Caldwell, he defends clients against negligence and intentional tort claims as well as licensing and disciplinary actions.
The son of a judge and teacher from Saginaw, Dan earned a bachelor’s degree in justice, morality & constitutional democracy from Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and later received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Outside of the office, Dan and his family are active with the First United Methodist Church of Brighton, and he is an avid reader, cook, fisherman, and home vintner.
