Scott’s path to the practice of law began during his time with World Relief, an international development agency that helps victims of poverty, disease, hunger, war, disasters, and persecution around the globe. As a case manager, he was responsible for handling immigration applications and asylum requests, work that sparked his interest in a legal career.
While attending Wayne State University Law School at night on a full academic scholarship, Scott took advantage of various opportunities to broaden his skills and perspectives during the day, including clerkships with a boutique litigation firm and the law departments at the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) and Robert Bosch North America. These internships offered insight and skill-building in legal research, claims management, contract drafting, and commercial transactions. Scott also participated in his law school’s Transactional Law Competition, where student teams are pitted against one another in deal negotiation simulations and forced to address various obstacles and impasses.
An award-winning cross-country athlete at Aquinas College, Scott continues to run in local amateur competitions.
