Jon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources and Economics from Michigan State University before pursuing his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he volunteered with the Mediation Clinic and was active in the Business Law Association and the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division.
Outside the classroom, Jon interned with the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission, where he investigated ethics complaints, drafted reports, and even deposed an attorney on the record. He further supplemented his academics as a law clerk with a solo personal injury attorney who handled toxic tort, auto negligence, and premises liability cases.
After law school, Jon worked for Dow Corning Corporation, where he was responsible for drafting and negotiating national and international information technology agreements with large banks, financial institutions and IT companies. In this role, he created an umbrella contract for use by all of Dow’s European entities, saved the company substantial sums of money, and became the lead negotiator of hardware and software IT contracts and supply chain agreements.
Because of his human resources background, a small Detroit-area firm concentrating on ERISA and employment law recruited Jon. There, he handled transactions and compliance for pension, health and welfare, and vacation plans. Looking to expand his advocacy skills, Jon joined a full-service insurance defense firm where he strengthened his discovery, motion practice, and courtroom litigation talents in homeowner liability, negligence, and first- and third-party auto claims.
An all-state, nationally-ranked swimmer in high school, Jon later rowed for the MSU Crew Club and now coaches for the Birmingham Bloomfield Atlantis Swimming Team while also finding time to play basketball, work out, and snowboard.
