SASHA Center

Startling statistics reveal that each year an average of 321,500 females age 12 and older are victimized by rape in the United States.

Not surprisingly, the likelihood of a woman experiencing suicidal thoughts or depression increases after sexual assault.

Since 2010, the SASHA Center (Sexual Assault Center for Healing and Awareness) has provided free support and peer-oriented healing to survivors of sexual assault in the Detroit area. The organization’s innovative culture-specific group settings utilize writing and journaling, meditation, aromatherapy, gardening, imagery, chanting, self-defense methods, and yoga to help survivors, including individuals assaulted during military service. The Center also promotes justice for survivors through community activism and public awareness of sexual violence, addressing rape from an African American perspective.

On January 6th, Zausmer attorneys and staff went “Casual for a Cause” to show their support for the SASHA Center and its important work with and on behalf of the community it serves. We thank legal assistant Kelly Quinn for spearheading the effort.
