Driven to do good work and generate results for the firm’s clients, Tom immerses himself in every case that comes across his desk. His structured approach to assessing the law and facts of each matter has been a benchmark in the course of a nearly 25-year practice that includes courtroom litigation and appeals.
During the first half of his legal career, at a time when fewer than five percent of lawsuits went to trial, Tom first-chaired eight trials to verdict, argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals on a complex insurance issue involving a public utility, and represented an insurer in federal court in a subrogation action consisting of more than 40 claims related to mass residential property flooding. Tom is particularly adept at investigation and discovery, and closely collaborates with his colleagues in the firm’s Insurance Defense practice group.
After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Tom earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University School of Law, during which he clerked full-time with a busy litigation firm and later with two Wayne County Circuit Court judges.
Tom and his wife are ardent supporters of Detroit, frequently dining at downtown restaurants, taking in movies at the Detroit Film Theatre, and viewing exhibitions and collections at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
